NFT Sales Fall for Second Month in a Row, Ethereum Dominates

• NFT sales declined by 5.76% in April compared to March figures.
• Ethereum-based NFTs dominated the market, accounting for $485 million in trades.

Declining NFT Sales

NFT sales have declined by 5.76% over the past 30 days, according to the latest NFT sale statistics. The data reveals that the sales figure stood at $732.13 million in April, which is lower than the $776.88 million recorded in March and down from record-breaking numbers seen earlier this year in January and February 2023.

Ethereum’s Dominance

Out of this amount, Ethereum-based NFT sales dominated the market, accounting for $485 million in trades during April; however, Ethereum NFT sales declined by 19% compared to March figures. Meanwhile, Solana-based NFT sales recorded $88.16 million during April; Polygon saw a surge in its own NFT sales by 22.75%. Arbitrum was also among the top six blockchains with most NFT sales last month and its own sales spiked by 78.35%, amounting to $10.29 million over 30 days period of time .

BAYC Leads Collections

In terms of collections, Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) led with its own figures standing at $45.10 million from April’s sale stats; Azuki held second spot with $21.91 followed by Nakamigos ($15m), Mutant Ape Yacht Club ($9m), and Mad Lads ($3m). Sandbox’s Land #21,221 emerged as the top-selling individual item with a sale price of $1.256 million approximately 20 days ago while Maverick Position #386 fetched $1M 16 days ago making it second on list respectively; Azuki #3,628 secured third spot on same list selling for around 626K 18 days ago followed by Azuki #5172 selling around 458K; CryptoPunk #3,990 sold for 444K 24 days ago marking fifth most expensive sale last month according to nftpricefloor’s report .
